We regretfully announce the passing of Bonita (Bonnie) Marie (Cornell) Edwards, age 84, of Manchester, TN on March 26, 2024. Bonnie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family. Bonnie was one of the strongest women you could know, our family was blessed to have her as the family matriarch.
Bonnie was born in Alma IL to Lewis and Dorothy Cornell on June 15, 1939. She was raised in Hammond, IN graduating from Hammond High School in 1957. Bonnie raised her 3 daughters in Hammond and Lowell IN, while working for various Credit Unions in Northwest IN.
Bonnie moved to Fort Myers Florida where she married Darryl Edwards, residing for 15 years. In 2006 Darryl and Bonnie moved to Manchester, TN to retire and enjoy the change of seasons. While in Manchester she became a member of the Normandy Methodist Church where she enjoyed participating in various church functions. She was also active in Veteran groups including the Manchester American Legion Auxiliary post #78 and the VFW #10904.
Bonnie was very creative at home decorating and creating art in various mediums. Although she painted a variety of subjects she loved birds and flowers. She shared her love of art with a small group of women she inspired in her home for several years.
In addition to her parents, Lewis and Dorothy Cornell, Bonnie was preceded in death by her daughter Colleen Meyer, brother Joe (Alice) Cornell, and grandson Dylan Meyer. She is survived by her husband of 26 years Darryl Edwards, daughters Roxanne Bastin, Lisa (Bastin) Rosinko, and brother Bud (Amy) Cornell. She was also a loving Grandmother to Emily (Tim) Delaney, Matthew (Caitlin) Rosinko, Drew (Jaqui) Meyer, Carson (Quin) Webster, Caleb Kekahbah, Paul Kekahbah, Cassidy Kekahbah and 8 Great-grandchildren Cora Lammers, Elise Lammers, Josephine Lammers, Nolan Rosinko, Madison Rosinko, Margot Meyer Webster, Valkyrie Meyer, and Declan Meyer Webster.
A service will be held at the Normandy United Methodist Church, 200 Center Street on April 6th. Visitation begins at 1:00, with a service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Normandy United Methodist Church, P.0. Box 168, Normandy, TN 37360. Bonnie’s final resting place will be in Alma, IL with her parents. We would like to thank the Normandy Methodist Church for their love and support. Bonnie will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
