Martha Joann Burton Snell,76, has passed into the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Signal Mountain Senior Living, where she had been living since January 2020, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Joann was born March 19, 1947, in Franklin Co, TN to Ernest Harold Burton and Ena Estelle Burton. She enjoyed living on the farm & helping with the chores that came with it. She met her husband, James (Jimmy) William Snell and married in 1964 on her 17th birthday. They were married for 41 years (up until Jimmy’s death in April 2004). Joann worked at First National Bank of Tullahoma beginning as a teller in 1967 until retiring as Assistant Vice President in 2008. The bank was part of her family. They enjoyed celebrating births of children, marriages, birthdays of employees and many holidays.
Anyone that knew Joann (JoJo) knew she was a servant at heart. A heart that was filled with love for her family, especially her grandsons Kristopher & Kacey and nieces Callie and Cheyenne Davis. She was a strong, independent women who was loyal and protective. She loved the Lord and His love shown through her.
JoJo is survived by her daughter, Kristy (Bill) Bowman, son Kenneth Snell, sister Tina (Tommy) Henley, grandsons Kristopher Bowman, Kacey Bowman and Brent (Amanda) Bowman, granddaughter Bethany (Robert) Rittenberry, niece Callie (Michael) Davis, great-niece Cheyenne Davis and great-nephew Lane Davis, great-granddaughters Layla Bowman, June Bowman, Evelyn Rittenberry, Katherine Rittenberry.
The family will receive friends at Tullahoma Funeral Home at located at 401 Westside Drive; Tullahoma, TN 37388 from 11 am-1pm CST. The celebration of life will be at 1:00 pm CST on Thursday, September 28, 2023, followed by a graveside service at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Estill Springs, TN.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Experience Community Church of Tullahoma or Hospice of Chattanooga.
The family would like to express thanks for the years of loving care Callie Davis gave JoJo while she was still at home and thank Signal Mountain Senior Living and Hospice of Chattanooga. The staff & nurses loved her, and she loved them.
